We talked about the UGREEN wireless charger for Apple Watch some time ago. Our attention was drawn to the size and originality of the system that transforms a kind of USB key into a plate to recharge Apple Watch that takes away the clutter of wires and allows you to charge the peripheral wherever you are: at home. , in the office, or in the car. Impressions all confirmed by the test we carried out “in the field” a few days ago.
The Ugreen accessory, certified by Apple as MFI, is delivered in a beautiful box. This is not entirely usual when it comes to Chinese products. Inside we find the charger and a rubber support that at first glance does not seem to have a precise use. Actually looking at this element well, we will understand that it works as a support for Apple Watch, in case we want to connect the vertical USB charger.
The charger itself is a simple product marked by compact dimensions but is made of shiny and good quality plastic. It consists of two parts, the actual connector with the charging plate and a cap. Once the cap is removed, the USB 2 plug is revealed, which is the architrave of the whole idea behind Ugreen chargers. There is also a small rubber ring, useful for attaching the charger to a key ring.

Operation is what you can imagine. Connect the plug to a USB port and this supplies electric current to the plate and with it you will recharge the Apple Watch. What is striking is that despite its simplicity everything is almost perfect: the dimensions are extremely compact (it is probably the smallest Apple Watch charger on the market) and it slips with the edge of our old MacBook Pro. Thanks to it we got rid of the inconvenient cable and the even more inconvenient charging plate that floated in our backpack when we used the computer on the go.
If you're wondering how this works compared to the original cable, we didn't notice any difference during our test. Our Apple Watch 4, as per spec, recharged from zero to 80% in about an hour and then took another forty minutes to get to 100%. And also the magnetic plate is no less powerful than the original one (as you can see from the image below)

The only doubt that may arise in the face of the purchase evaluation lies in the fact that obviously to recharge Apple Watch in the most “ergonomic” way possible you will need a MacBook (and it must also be a MacBook with USB 2 ports). Of course, you can also use this ultra-compact Apple Watch charger using a USB charger, even in the car.
Thanks to the rubber support we mentioned above, it will be difficult to find one that is not able to function properly, but it cannot be excluded that it may happen that you find yourself in difficulty. If you are not using a MacBook for charging but a normal charger, take a good look at the form factor.
In conclusion, the Ugreen charger for Apple Watch is a highly recommended product for all those who want or have to get rid of the Apple cable for charging Apple Watch. You can use it in many situations both thanks to its size and its original design. The cost of 32.99 euros (29.69 euros with the code 9QOUQ5Q6 until August 15) is amply justified both by the originality and by the fact that it is a certified product by Apple.
