Fiber, it takes greater transparency on offers

Stop to misleading advertising messages , with consumers who then do not get the connection speeds promised by the optical fiber operators . Adiconsum, an association in defense of consumers and the environment promoted by CISL, writes to Agcom to signal the need to rewrite the rules and subscriptions to ensure greater transparency.

The occasion is the recent launch of ILIAD with its fixed telephony subscription, and the president of Adiconsum Carlo De Masi declares to have started a survey to verify the advertising information of companies in the sector, paying particular attention to the advertised speed .

The results are not very comforting . According to Pierpaola Pietrantozzi, National Secretary Adiconsum consumers get confused, with companies bidding on the highest connection speed without indicating, almost always, the minimum guaranteed . The point is that the operators advertise the FTTH fiber , i.e. the optical fiber that reaches the user's home, which does not clarify the actual speed that can be reached upon activation, as the true type connection is known only after the identification of the activation address , since the cabling is not carried out by the subscription vendor .

Adiconsum therefore asks for new rules that clarify the technologies used and always indicate the minimum guaranteed speed , the only parameter recognized by Misurainternet and that allows the complaint for breach of contract.
