On 22 January the Council of Ministers approved the reform to the Public register of oppositions , which will allow also to register mobile numbers to block the so-called wild telemarketing .
The new regulation is not yet in force : the signature of the President of the Republic of the implementing decree and the subsequent publication in the Official Gazette are missing, but these are only formal matters. In short, it is only a matter of time before the new Register of Oppositions also supports mobile numbers.
What is the Public Register of Oppositions
The public register of oppositions is an Italian public service launched in 2010, which allows all citizens to register their telephone number to report not wanting to receive promotional or market research calls .
Call centers that rely on telemarketing would be required to consult this register to ensure that the numbers to be called have not denied their consent. It doesn't always really work, but being registered is definitely a great starting point to limit spam calls , or even to quickly close any call center calls that aren't too careful of the rules: usually, just also verbally communicate your registration in the register to quickly end the call and no longer receive any more from this call center.
Until now, the public register of oppositions had worked exclusively with fixed numbers, but it will soon open to mobile phones as well. So let's see how to register in the Register of oppositions , using one of the 4 methods suggested on the official website.
The most immediate way to register your number in the opposition register is through the appropriate web page. Simply open the page with the online registration form and fill in all the required fields.
You can add more phone numbers, report the type of advertising you no longer want to receive (telephone, paper or both) and finalize the registration by completing the verification CAPTCHA.
Once the form has been completed, from the same page it is possible to consult the status of the registration, update the data or revoke the registration.
Registration in the register of oppositions
It is also possible to register with the register by calling the toll-free number 800 265 265 from the line for which the operation is requested. During the phone call, you will need to follow the instructions of the automatic responder and communicate your personal data, including tax code (or VAT number).
It is possible to request assistance from a human operator, but only from Monday to Friday during business hours (9.00-13.00 and 14.00-18.00).
From the same toll-free number it is possible to check the status of the case, modify the data or cancel the registration.
This is an obsolete and more expensive method than the others, but if you want you can download the application form from this address, fill it in and send it by registered mail together with a copy of an identity document to the following address:
