The Keypad numeric keypad, as the name suggests, is a Keypad, to be hung at the entrance, in order to manage the entire alarm system, activating or deactivating it through a numerical sequence.
How it's done
The Kaypad Eufy looks like a small square in plastic, rather consistent and robust, on which there are 9 numeric keys, and other function keys. They are all rubber, and offer optimal touch and feel. They offer a slightly hollow surface, to facilitate their pressure. Inside the package there is also the bracket to hang it on the mute: either through the set of screws included in the package, or through the 3M stickers, always present inside the initial pack. In our case we have chosen this second solution, faster, so as not to have to resort to a drill. Even with the stickers, let's say it immediately, the peripheral is glued to the wall in a precise and stable way, and does not present any movement, even when the keypad is extracted to recharge it. Yes, because the kaypad contains an integrated battery that ensures approximately 180 days of use, and which is recharged via a microUSB cable.
How does it work
The first pairing is extremely simple. Just open the Eufy app on your smartphone, select “add device”, select the Keypad and follow the instructions on the screen. After pressing the “Sync” button at the top of the keypad, pairing will be started, which will be completed in a few seconds.
Configuration
During the first pairing, the app will guide the user in configuring the PIN. It is necessary to enter a numerical sequence, which will be the one that will allow you to activate the different security modes. It is possible to enter more than one PIN, to be assigned to the various members of the family: in this way the user will obtain a chronology of who activates or deactivates the alarm. This is a very useful system in case Eufy Security is installed in the office, so as to always have control of the employees who arrive or leave from work.
Activating the different security modes is extremely simple: just enter the PIN and click on the “Home”, “Away from home”, “Cus” and “Off” buttons. The Home and Away modes are those that activate the security settings as set in the Eufy app. Cus activates a customized mode, where the user has set different options for all peripherals connected to the Eufy video surveillance system. This is an interesting setting, which allows you, for example, to set a “Night” mode. If with “Away from home it is assumed that all sensors and cameras are turned on, a night mode could, for example, alarm only certain sensors, leaving the cameras and sensors in the bedroom off.
Who is it for
The Eufy keypad is not essential, because the Eufy Security system can be used and managed completely from the smartphone. However, it is a functional and versatile accessory, because it allows any member of the family, even those who are not too smart and who do not use a smartphone, to alarm or disarm the security system. It is also a quick method, when entering and leaving the house, to manage the alarm without having to take your mobile phone out of your pocket or bag.
It works very well, and has numerous details that make it versatile: for example, in the dark the keys will light up as soon as the user approaches, so as to make them even more visible. Furthermore, there is a “panic” button, which will allow – if pressed for 3 seconds – to activate the alarms. It could be a life saver for those in difficulty, by launching an alarm, not only acoustic, but also as a notification to connected smartphones.
Conclusions
Not essential, but a component that completes the Eufy Security ecosystem, expanding the possibility of use to all members of the family who are not familiar with the smartphone. The presence of a Panic button makes it a life saver, very useful in case someone is in trouble.
