Now Discord will be tidier, threads arrive

A new feature is coming to Discord . The messaging service is in fact launching the Threads function, which will allow users to improve the order within the various conversation structures. Threads is fundamentally different from the Replies feature that Discord introduced last year. With this new feature, users will be able to create new thread conversations using the “#” symbol on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and the web. Everything should be available as of today .

Threads work much like they do in many other chat clients, allowing Discord users to branch a conversation away from the main channel feed . A separate feed is generated for thread conversations, and the administrators of Discord servers will be able to control which members of a server can participate in threads. The moderators will also be able to remove people from threads if you don't want to. Discord threads can be public or private.

Discord will automatically archive discussions within 24 hours to minimize channel clutter. Once archived you will still be able to read discussions in an archive card, but not respond to them. Server administrators will be able to configure archiving up to up to three days by default, and up to one week for level 2 servers with Nitro boost.
