The Google Drive desktop app is getting its backup and sync features, but they're not for everyone yet

Google has already announced for a few months now that the Backup and Sync client for Drive would be replaced by a new and most complete version of Google Drive for desktop . The new app should best combine desktop services at consumer and enterprise levels in one single platform and the first signs of this are starting to arrive, too. if not everyone can access it yet.

A new version of the Google Drive desktop app dedicated to users Workspace is slowly making its way, and it looks like this could be the first step in with a view to reinventing the app for businesses and consumer users . Drive for desktop version 49 brings with it many new features, including Google Photos backup , multi-account support , and the possibility of streaming or mirroring of files and folders from Drive to computer.

Unfortunately, all these innovations are only available to users with Workspace accounts , the only ones who for now have access to the app from their PC. For full public availability to all consumer users, the launch may not be around the corner . When the app is ready for personal accounts, Google will still make a public announcement .
