Although the intention of the creators of Halo was to keep this enigma for eternity, Microsoft believes otherwise. Yes, those from Redmond have decided that it is time for the world to see the face of John-117.
If you are a fan of the franchise , surely you are aware that, on March 24, the Haloseries will be released. The content has caused too much expectation, especially since we have waited many years for it. However, at Paramount+ they believe that their content needs an additional element to attract the attention of the public. The idea, then, is to present the face of Master Chief for the first time through Halo The Series.
The above was confirmed to IGN by Kiki Wolfkill, who serves as director of Transmedia of 343 industries. “I think we set out to tell the story of a character , a personal story. And once we really got into what that story was, it became clear that you needed to see the person underneath the armor and the helmet. You will see his face.”
Is it necessary to know Master Chief's face?
Obviously, the news has not been well received by a certain sector of the Halo fandom. The reason? Well, that mystery was a distinctive part of Master Chief. Wolfkill herself acknowledges that the situation could divide the opinions of the fans, but it was something they needed to do to strengthen the narrative of the series:
“For some people, it has been a moment where they have been preparing for 20 years, and for other people it is something that feels very difficult to imagine. We respect both sides, those who really want to see the Chief's face and those who don't. But because of the nature of this story, it felt really important to connect with Master Chief in a different way, and that meant showing your face.”
