Tom Cruise goes on TikTok and goes viral, but it's not him: look at that Deepfake! (video)

Technology always surprises, not just at the hardware level. In fact, a few days ago Tom Cruise has arrived on TikTok and his small videos are making a lot of success, becoming a viral phenomenon with over 250,000 followers in a very short time. The problem? The one in the videos looks like Tom Cruise, but he's not at all.

Someone is pretending to be the well-known Hollywood actor through videos using the Deepfake , that is a technology based on artificial intelligence able to replace the face of one person with another through a technique of automatic learning. Net of the different rumor and the obvious inaccuracies, the result is truly surprising.

Despite having “deep” in the nickname ( @ deeptomcruise ), silently underlining the fact that we are dealing with an account based on Deepfake, TikTok does not allow this type of behavior, or rather, it does not allow you to impersonate other people, as well as all social networks, so perhaps we will see it disappear soon, given that the user's conduct travels on a tightrope.

In any case, the speed with which this technology is evolving is certainly surprising, but its use scares us a little. What do you think? You can find the fake Tom Cruise's TikTok account at this address.
