Trovaprezzo has drawn up an assessment of the habits of Italians in terms of online purchases

A new study on the trend of online purchases made by Italians during these first months of 2021 has been released, resulting in still very positive signals for a sector that during the past year lived a rosy moment. In fact, online purchases mainly concerned physical products, with an increase of 45% compared to 2019.

It was traced by Trovaprezzo , the leading online price comparator in Italy, a balance sheet of the main purchasing trends on the web, analyzing the purchase interest in the various categories for the period January – April of the last three years (2019-2021) and below we show you the results summarized in the ranking of the 15 product categories.

As you can see, while for the past two years Phones and Smartphones have occupied the top step of the podium, outclassed in 2021 by Supplements and Adjuvants . As can be seen, the health emergency has influenced the flow and purchasing needs of the Italian people, resulting in a redistribution of research and a shift of interest towards categories related to health . Health Products, Over-the-Counter Medicines and Workwear (category dedicated to PPE), which in the past had instead enjoyed less popularity online, have thus acquired greater acclaim.

From the point of view of the age of the most active users that these researches have shown we find that in 25% of cases they are aged between 25 and 34 years, while in 22% we have the range of 35-44 years. There is an increase in research compared to previous years also for the very young (18-24 years) which reach 15%, passing from 6% in 2019 and 11% in 2020; the more mature users (over 55 with 21% total) and the 45-54 range that passes to 17% (from 21% in 2019) are slightly down.
